Mrs Joanne Castle
My name is Joanne Castle and this is summary about me for you to read.
From a young age my passion has always been to teach. After working in a shop and going to college to study BTec nursery nursing I secured a job in a private day nursery. In 1999 I applied for a job at Freshwaters Primary Academy (it was then know as Broadfields Primary school) as a nursery nurse in the school nursery which at that time was purpose built to cater for mainstream children and those with special education needs.
At this point, my childhood aspiration was realised as Broadfields was the school that I went to as a child and it had always been my ambition to work there. I have predominantly worked in nursery but have also taught in other year groups too. I love my job and helping children learn and grow especially those in the early years of their education. I have seen many changes to the school as well as teaching children some of which have grown up and had their own children!
To continue my route into teaching I completed my Foundation Degree in learning support and then a (BA Hons) in Education. This took a lot of determination and perseverance because I worked full time while going to University one day a week. I also got married and started a family during this time. I now have three children that keep me very busy, all of which also attended Freshwaters. They also have their own happy memories of being a student at Freshwaters Primary Academy and hope they will also strive to achieve their ambitions in the future.
