Ms Gema Ballesteros
Senior Mental Health & Wellbeing Lead, Year 4 Class Teacher
My name is Gema Ballesteros, and I am a specialist in EYFS and Primary teaching systems, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Psychopedagogy with a major in Counselling and Guidance. My teaching journey began in 2000 when I was awarded a scholarship to take part in an international exchange programme between the University of Ottawa and the University Complutense of Madrid. Since then, I have taught for over 20 years across EYFS, Primary and university level.
I joined Freshwaters Primary Academy in 2018 as part of the BMAT Educational Group and have taught in different year groups. I am currently a Year 4 teacher in Northern Lights. Alongside my classroom role, I am proud to serve as Senior Mental Health Lead, Wellbeing Lead, Healthy School Lead and Outdoor Learning Programme Leader. Through these roles, I am committed to promoting children’s emotional wellbeing, physical health, environmental awareness and meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom.
I am passionate about enabling every child to reach their full potential. I have high expectations for all pupils and strongly believe in the power of education to transform life chances for children and their families. Working in multicultural environments has been a privilege, and I truly value being part of the Freshwaters community.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my son and daughter.
