Reading - We will be reading the book, “The Man On The Moon” As part of this, we will be inferring meaning, exploring vocabulary and looking at different punctuation then making predictions, retrieving information and then retelling parts of the story
Our whole class reading sessions will link to the theme of space and our universe and the great space race.
As writers – we are going to be looking at the main character Bob and thinking about what his feelings are about his job. We shall be building up to creating a letter. We shall look at the features of a letter what should be included in a letter and what vocabulary should be included.
In Maths- addition and multiplication- we shall be continuing to look at adding from and to a ten, we shall also start to look at multiplication and making equal groups, sharing, halving and doubling.
Some of the key vocabulary that we shall be closely at both, and their main achievements and sing; Addition, subtraction, more than, less than, equal to, count, forwards, backwards, groups of, lots of half, double and equal.
Science- We shall be looking at everyday materials and suitability and purpose. We shall be looking at some of the properties of materials such as how stretchy it is, absorbent and if it can be changed.
Key Vocabulary – material, strong, flexible, absorbent, durable, suitable, purpose.
History – Intrepid Explorers Columbus and Armstrong- we shall be looking at both, their main achievements, what made them famous and what influence they have had on the world today.
Key Vocabulary – sea journey, moon landing, travel, explorer
Art – we shall be focussing on Veronique Radelet- we shall create winter landscapes and the moon using chalk.
In Religious Education – We shall focus on Christianity. Looking at when Jesus died on the Crucifix and why this was significant.
PSHE – Perseverance why this is an important quality to have. Also the importance of never giving up.
