Autumn 1
Reading – In class we are going to focus on “Midsummer Night’s Dream” we are going to retelling the story, we shall be learning how to create tension and atmosphere. We shall be learning how to use creative and descriptive language when looking at a setting.
As writers - We shall be looking at and learning how to summarise the main events of a text. Also we shall be planning and creating a descriptive setting.
In Maths- In Maths we shall be looking at comparing and ordering numbers. We shall be looking at 1 more, 1 less, greater than, less than and equal to. Then looking at writing numerals as words.
Key vocab- tens, ones, numerals, place value, partition, expanded form, interval, estimate, compare, symbols, fewest, greatest, least, 2D, 3D, sides, vertex, symmetrical, mirror, face, edge, vertices and repeating.
Science- We shall be looking at how can we sort materials, looking at which materials are natural or man-made
We shall be looking at how we change materials.
Are items made out of plastic or metal?
What items can you make from trees?
Key Vocabulary – materials, properties, soft, hard, flexible, absorbent, waterproof.
History –. We are going to be exploring events from 1066, and also looking at some of the structures and castles that were built by the Normans. We shall be finding out what will be found in the Tower of London and how we can relate this to our school trip.
Key Vocabulary – Normans, invade, oath conquered, rebellion, earn, abolished, conflict, residence and attraction.
Art – We are going to be looking at Picasso and how he used cubism in his work and creating our own cubism pictures using his skills and techniques. .
Religious Education – We shall be looking at Sikhism- looking at Christian beliefs and comparing these to Sikh beliefs, looking at and comparing religious artifacts and objects.
PSHE – In Jigsaw we shall be looking at Our community- hopes and fears for the year, rights and responsibilities, rewards and consequences, and learning all about the learning charter.
